About This Course

Nuad Boran (Ancient Thai Bodywork) is a combination of energy work, compression, stretching, and range of motion. The application of Thai massage is rhythmic and meditative and your clients may feel both relaxed and rejuvenated!  Thai massage is applied fully clothed on a mat. In this course, you will learn to apply Thai massage techniques in the supine, prone, and seated positions.
This 16-hour course thoroughly teaches the principles in the art of Nuad Borarn, traditional Thai massage. This course teaches a 90-120 minute Thai massage routine primarily based in the Northern Thailand style. A brief history, philosophy and traditions will be included in the course. Participants will learn proper alignment and good body mechanics as well as how to safely deliver the stretches and postures. Students will be able to practice on each other in a supportive environment.
No prior massage or yoga experience is necessary. Students must be able to kneel, crawl, and sit on the ground. Please bring a pillow, pillow case, and flat sheet.

What To Expect

You won’t want to miss a minute of this 2-day course. Not only will you get the information you need to safely and confidently practice Thai Yoga Massage, but you’ll get plenty of time to have fun! You’ll receive a manual written by Vanessa Hazzard with easy to follow steps (including photos) of her personal Thai Yoga Massage sequences.
Each class begins with a guided movement based centering that flows seamlessly into the day’s lessons. Come in comfy clothes and bring your yoga mats and pillows. You will be receiving and practicing Thai yoga Massage each day.

About Vanessa Hazzard

Vanessa Hazzard, BASc, LMT is an author, educator, and massage therapist with 13 years of experience in the field. She is author of Prenatal Thai Massage: for Relaxation & Pain Relief. Her volunteerism and commitment to mental health and trauma-awareness in yoga and bodywork has landed her features on NPRPhilly.com, and speaking engagements at Drexel University and non-profit organizations. She has also been featured in Massage Today. Vanessa has shared her expertise as an advisory board member for massage therapy schools, as well as Belmont Behavioral Health’s mood disorder program. Over the past decade, she has taught hundreds of massage therapy professionals at spas, wellness centers, and retreats; including Massage Envy Regional Trainings, Mellow Massage & Yoga, Toppers Spa, and the Sporting Club at the Bellevue. Vanessa has studied with Ajarn Sinchai Sukparset, Thanachai Chaimongkhon, and International Training Massage (ITM) in Chiang Mai, Thailand. She also has a Bachelor of Applied Science in Massage Therapy from Siena Heights University and is currently earning her Master of Adult and Continuing Education from Rutgers University.
