Why I Named My Company Nirvanaland

“When I was fresh out of massage school, I worked at a day spa. One of the first clients I had there really enjoyed her session. As I was walking her to the reception area, she turns to me and says, “Vanessa, that was pure nirvanaland! The pain I had before is totally gone!” That brief exchange had a big impact on me. Nirvana is a term used in Buddhism and Hinduism that can be defined as a state of perfect peace, happiness and freedom from suffering.

Our bodies are the center of our human experience. For many, that experience includes frequent physical, mental or emotional pain.  While some pain is necessary, constant discomfort can negatively impact all areas of your life. After working with that one particular client, my intention for all the sessions I’ve had over the last ten years is to help everyone I massage to feel as peaceful and pain-free as she did.

Once I became a massage and bodywork educator, the original intention I set expanded from the treatment room to the classroom. My mission with Nirvanaland Essentials is to provide massage therapists with the essentials or necessary tools to offer their clients relief from suffering for a more peaceful state of being…one session at a time.”
